Our label is a tribute to our ancestor John Couch Adams. With fellow mathematicians, he proved the existence of the planet Neptune in the 1840s. This spirit of discovery is in our winemaking, taking old traditions into the future with sustainable practices. Our Le Verrier Shiraz is named for one of the five Rings of Neptune.

Shiraz is the epitome of the Barossa with quintessential regional typicity and varietal expression. Cellaring potential into the decades.

Le Verrier Barossa Shiraz 2020 Reviews

Opulent and sensually appealing, it's seductively complex on the nose with blackberry, smoked game, mocha, expresso and cedary oak characters on the nose. It's bold and substantial in the mouth delivering plush texture and multi-layered mouthfeel, superbly supported by beautifully melded tannins. Dramatic and luxurious with an impressively long engaging finish. At its best: now to 2036. $60.00. www.sorbyadamswines.com. Aug 2023.

Wine Orbit, Sam Kim

A firm and tightly woven shiraz from the Barossa. The dense dark berry fruits are supplemented with a little coffee grinds plus a smoke wood character that is most appealing. Dark chocolate coats the palate with a light cedary touch emerging. Seamlessly brought together and presented to a long finish. Score: 96/100. Cellar: 15 years
