Matured in 4-year air dried French oak hogsheads (30% new) for 24 months.
Francois Frere and Taransaud Coopers.

Shiraz is the epitome of the Barossa with quintessential regional typicity and varietal expression. Cellaring potential into the decades.

Our label is a tribute to our ancestor John Couch Adams. With fellow mathematicians, he proved the existence of the planet Neptune in the 1840s. This spirit of discovery is in our winemaking, taking old traditions into the future with sustainable practices. Our Le Verrier Shiraz is named for one of the five Rings of Neptune.

Le Verrier Barossa Shiraz 2021 Reviews

Opulent and sensually appealing, it's seductively complex on the nose with blackberry, smoked game, mocha, expresso and cedary oak characters on the nose. It's bold and substantial in the mouth delivering plush texture and multi-layered mouthfeel, superbly supported by beautifully melded tannins. Dramatic and luxurious with an impressively long engaging finish. At its best: now to 2036. $60.00. www.sorbyadamswines.com. Aug 2023.

Wine Orbit, Sam Kim

It’s hard to beat Barossa shiraz in a good year. This displays all that was good, no, very good, in the ’21 Barossa vintage. Apparently, Le Verrier is the ring of Neptune, and apparently mathematician, one John Couch Adams, along with a few other numbers types got his slide rule and log tables out and proved the existence of Neptune. Back to the wine. Presents with elegance and smooth refinement with plenty of dark berry fruits, coffee and mocha characters and ample supporting integrated oak. It’s rich and dark with great concentration that saunters effortlessly to a long finish.

Wine Pilot, Ray Jordan

Really deep, dark, inky and opaque in the glass. Opulent aromas of stewed plum, mulberry, dark chocolate, sweet oak, cocoa powder and a brambly wildness. Deep, dark and super-concentrated in flavour. Decadently rich, chock-full of dark fruits and shapely, velvety tannins — all framed by some classy French oak. Big time Barossa.
