Our label is a tribute to our ancestor John Couch Adams. With fellow mathematicians, he proved the existence of the planet Neptune in the 1840s. This spirit of discovery is in our winemaking, taking old traditions into the future with sustainable practices. Our Lassell Grenache is named for one of the five Rings of Neptune.

Grenache originates from both France and Spain and thrives in moderate to warm climate regions such as the Barossa. A wonderful food wine. 
Tasting Notes

Colour:

Deep ruby with brick edge.

Aroma:

Fragrant wild strawberry and cranberry flavours with a hint of orange zest.

Palate:

Fragrant berries continue on the palate with a creamy finish. Matured in French oak hogsheads (30% new) for 18 months. Sealed with QORK.

Food Pairing:

A perfect dinner guest that pairs with food of all kinds. Char grilled meats, tapas, antipasti and mushroom risotto.

A gorgeous expression, this is stylish and complex on the nose showing sweet cherry, game, cedar and dark cocoa aromas, followed by a succulent palate offering excellent weight and fleshy texture backed by refined tannins. Lassell Barossa Valley Grenache 2021 – This, and the rest of the new range, all under cork, are all named after the peers and competitors of Simon’s Neptune-seeking ancestor, from back in the 1840s. Those gentlemen are also celebrated by the naming of the various Rings of Neptune. And now a wine. What could possibly be next? It is all part of the spirit of discovery, which Simon believes is embedded in his winemaking journey. The wine spent 18 months in French oak, 30% of which were new.
We’ve seen plenty of superb Grenache in recent years, but this sits with the best of them. A stunner. The colour is a deep red/maroon. The flavours range through red fruits, bay leaves, cherries, spices, raspberries, dry herbs, delicatessen meats and warm earth. A beautifully silky palate and a wine of great length. Sleekly structured. A top-notch Grenache indeed. Ten years. 96.
